Description Thomas Andrews 2017-11-16 19:23:39 CET
Description of problem:

The nonfree repositories, both 64 and 32 bit, still contain packages for downloading and installing flash-player-plugin 26.0.0.126. This script package will no longer work, as Adobe moved 26.0.0.126 from its download site months ago. If it is installed, the freshplayer plugin is installed, but not the flashplayer itself. Moreover, the flashplayer plugin will not automatically list the update to the current version after attempting to install from this script.

I believe it should be removed from the repositories. If that is not acceptable, it should be altered in such a way that if it IS mistakenly installed by a user, the update to the current version will be triggered and work for that user.

The script for version 27.0.0.187, the current version, does work, and of course should remain.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your concern.

We never remove packages from stable releases. We keep all other old packages that should no longer be used because they got updated for security issues, too. In all cases, updating the system will install the newest package.

flash-player-plugin-27.0.0.187-1.mga5.nonfree and
flash-player-plugin-27.0.0.187-1.mga6.nonfree were pushed to nonfree/updates this morning. When users with an older version update their system, newest flash-player-plugin-27.0.0.187 will get installed and the new flashplayer pulled in. I can't imagine QA team having validated the update if that doesn't happen ;-)

Only in cauldron do old packages get removed.

Kind regards,
Marja
