Description of problem: Booting a system using LightDM (default when installing with Xfce as desktop). The numlock indicator (small light on laptop) goes on during the boot process, stays on, but when trying to enter a password containing numbers, no numbers can be entered using the numeric keypad. Pressing the numlock button does not change the numlock indicator, but engages the numlock really. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: I've seen this on a desktop which has only Xfce, and on my test laptop which has Xfce and MATE installed. The numlock package is installed by default, but whether it is running or removed does not make any difference. Note: it all concerns AZERTY keyboards where the numbers on the alphabetic pad are uppercase characters, so the numeric keypad not working is a nuisance.
It sounds as if you don't have the same issue when using SDDM or GDM.... is that right? In "man setleds" I read: > BUGS > In keyboard application mode the NumLock key does not influence the > NumLock flag setting. I'm wondering whether that's related. CC'ing the LightDM maintainer

Summary: LightDM has numlock indicator on, but numlock is not engaged. => LightDM has numlock LED indicator on, but numlock is not engaged.
Indeed, no issue in SDDM, never tried GDM up to now.

This message is a reminder that Mageia 6 is end of life. Mageia stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 6. At that time this bug will be closed as OLD (EOL). Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 6's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we cannot be able to fix it before Mageia 6 was end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. -- Mageia Bugsquad
