Description Helgi1507 2017-09-02 21:43:15 CEST
Description of problem:

VirtualBox from official repos contains two .desktop files - virtualbox.desktop (vanilla) and mageia-virtualbox.desktop
When I simply run an application, system tray has always broken icon. https://i.imgur.com/Wgx8vdb.png

Deleting mageia-virtualbox.desktop and copy virtualbox.desktop to /usr/share/applications seems to solve an issue till next update of the package.

Version:
virtualbox-5.1.26-1.mga6

For completeness sake, this was reported via forums:
https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11970
It will show the wrong icon/garbage under at least GNOME and also KDE. Not sure what the issue is, as /usr/share/virtualbox/virtualbox.desktop and /usr/share/applications/mageia-virtualbox.desktop both contain the same entry for the icon.

No such problem here :/
(and I never have had it...)

I'm using Gnome 64bit

And the .desktop file used, atleast in Gnome is mageia-virtualbox.desktop,
thats the one automatically shown if you open up application listing

So I need more info how to reproduce...

Also tested with fresh KDE:

I use Gnome 64bit, Intel graphics, Xorg.

I have updated VirtualBox to the latest version, and bug still occurs.

This bug shows up only when VirtualBox is running.

Could you provide screenshot of the system tray while VirtualBox is running?

This message is a reminder that Mageia 6 is end of life.

Mageia stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 6. At that time this bug will be closed as OLD (EOL).

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to
fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later
Mageia version prior to Mageia 6's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we cannot
be able to fix it before Mageia 6 was end of life.
If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime,
sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia
release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
