Description Shlomi Fish 2011-07-12 21:29:41 CEST
Description of problem:

I cannot invoke the K/Start/Etc. menu using Alt+F1 when KDE 4 is running on
Cooker. I can reproduce this bug in a brand new UNIX user account too.

Other shortcuts such as Alt+F2 to the execute command work fine.

How reproducible:

Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Login to a virtual console as a new user.
2. Set .Xclients to startkde
3. Run «startx -- :1».
4. Wait for the desktop to load.
5. Press Alt+F1 and see that nothing happens.
6. Press Alt+F2 and see that the execute command dialog is run.

================

This is an old Mandriva bug that still exists in Mageia Cauldron and should be promptly fixed:

Could you please check with xguest user ?
ALT+F1 is set to default to prompt the menu so it's more probably a problem with your user configuration.

Thanks! I checked it in a new user and Alt+F1 worked fine there. So I set the shortcut in my existing user and now it works fine. I guess this bug was resolved in the transition from Mandriva to Mageia.

Resolving as fixed.
