This is an issue of the default theme that M6 Xfce uses: TraditionalOK. When you set the theme to Adwaita (Settings - Appearance - Adwaita), alignment and text is ok, as it is in other DE's. Not an audacity bug. Xfce should really use the much better looking & working Adwaita, but now it's too late I'm afraid. Also on x86_64. Assigning to Jani/wally.

I've a small fix that would enlarge the toolbar (also in the other DE), though probably the theme it's a bit broken in XFCE. In particular the slider on the right bar is missed.

To be precise is not that the right slider in the toolbar is missed, is that it's invisible, but it's there.
Created attachment 9481 [details] screenshot audacity adwaita Uh oh Giuseppe, when you fix it in audacity, then we can give up all hope to ever get a better default gtk* theme set in our Xfce flavour :/ It works flawless with Adwaita which is installed by default, but just not set as default. Slider/handle is visible. Attaching a screenshot, xfce audacity adwaita
Ah, with adwaita seems perfect. Can't be changed the default theme in XFce to adwaita?
Please, Jani, when you follow this bug. I've just read that we maybe get another set of isos (not that I'm giving up hope we will finally get a final, sigh). Could you change the default M6 xfce setting to use: Adwaita (gtk theme) BlueMenta (xfwm4 window deco theme) Both are included by default. No new dependencies. I've used these settings for months, no issues at all. Chris, a QA Xfce tester will be forever grateful :)
I can't do anything else this time than assign this back to bug squad as the bug is about Audacity not working visually 100% correctly with TraditionalOk theme. It's not a bug in Xfce itself and TraditionalOK theme comes from mate-themes .src.rpm. Changing the default theme for Xfce is a different story. At some point Adwaita didn't work well with Xfce's Gtk2/Gtk3 mixture and was replaced with TraditionalOK theme which was working way better and had a traditional Gtk2 look and feel. Xfce was then, and still is, a Gtk2 DE, even though some parts are already ported to Gtk3. However, feel free to open a separate bug report about changing the default theme for Xfce. If so, I think it should be discussed in some other forum what we will do about it and when as mga6 release is near. I can easily live with TraditionalOk as a default theme, though.

Mageia 6 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2019-09-30. It is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we weren't able to fix it before Mageia 6's end of life. If you are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. If you would like to help fixing bugs in the future, don't hesitate to join the packager team via our mentoring program [1] or join the teams that fit you most [2].
