Description of problem: I connected my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I can see the folders on my phone as well as external sd but once I want to access one of the folders it keeps asking for permisions to the phone. Even if I accept the access it won't get in to the folders. Regards
Are the packages libmtp-utils mtpfs gmtp installed? Have you added your device to /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules ? Have you tried to switch to a USB-2.0 port instead of a USB-3.0 port? Have you tried with Debug mode disabled and enabled again? Have you selected MTP Connection type in USB Configuration under the Developer Options Menu? To enable the Developer options tap Version 7 times under About the device in Settings.

And which desktop environment do you use, Ezequiel? Please start, as root, journalctl -f > journal.txt and let it run while you try to access one of the directories on your phone again and see it fail again. Then attach journal.txt to this bug report. @ Kristoffer Thanks for all your questions/suggestions! I know near to nothing about getting mtp to work (well) if it doesn't work well out of the box.

For me the issue only disappeared when I rooted it and flashed the ResurrectionRemix. I'm not saying that YOU have to do the same, but that's the only thing that solved the problem for me.

I've found the standard MTP utilities don't really work with Samsung phones (S4 and S7 at least), but jmtpfs (not packaged but you can build it locally) works fine.
(In reply to David Walser from comment #4) > I've found the standard MTP utilities don't really work with Samsung phones > (S4 and S7 at least), but jmtpfs (not packaged but you can build it locally) > works fine. Sounds like an item for the errata.

@Ezequiel This goes back to Mageia 6, and there were several suggestions. Is it still an issue now we are well into M7? If no reply, it can be closed.

Yes, let's close this. The MTP support in Mageia 7 likely doesn't work any better, but that's an upstream issue. He can use our other suggestions for accessing his phone.
