Description of problem: In Mate DE, when choosing a .mp4 video file to playback in Totem (Videos), the preview image is just a black square. It would normally have a frame from the video displayed. installed from : Mageia-6-x86_64-DVD DATE.txt: Sun Jun 11 23:26:10 CEST 2017 Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): totem-3.24.0-1.mga6 (Mageia-6-x86_64-DVD DATE.txt: Sun Jun 11 23:26:10 CEST 2017) How reproducible: every time Steps to Reproduce: 1.install Mate only DE from above .iso 2.boot to Mate DE. 3.invoke Totem (Videos) and add a Video .mp4 file. A black preview image is displayed with the file title displayed below

Ben, do you have correct codecs installed? You may need to enable tainted repo and install task-video package. Please give feedback on this.
