Users who get a mail from our Bugzilla do sometimes (or maybe even often) try to reply to that mail instead of logging into our Bugzilla and commenting there. It would be nice if the mail footer would tell how to add information to a report, e.g. like this: If you want to reply to this mail, then please click on the link at the top of this mail, log in and add your comment there. Replying by mail does _not_ work. You are receiving this mail because: etc.
Another option would be to accept replies by email.
(In reply to Frédéric Buclin from comment #1) > Another option would be to accept replies by email. Yeah, but that would probably make many bug reports messier, because the person who replies by mail didn't read the replies that came after the comment he replies to. Replying in the bug report has the advantage of seeing all comments that were made. I'd rather not try allowing replies by e-mail until BugSquad has grown with some more active members who have time to monitor how well (or not) that works, and time to tag or hide confusing or redundant comments. Stormi might disagree with me, though. CC'ing him and some others (QA-team, packagers) for their opinion(s).

What happens currently when people try to answer by e-mail? Don't they get a proper answer that tells them that they can't?
(In reply to Samuel Verschelde from comment #3) > What happens currently when people try to answer by e-mail? Don't they get a > proper answer that tells them that they can't? Yes, they do, the "average-human readable" part of that message is: > This is the mail system at host alamut.mageia.org. > > I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not > be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below. > > For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster. > > If you do so, please include this problem report. You can > delete your own text from the attached returned message. > > The mail system > > <bugzilla-daemon@mageia.org>: unknown user: "bugzilla-daemon@mageia.org" > but that message often doesn't lead to the conclusion that they should use Bugzilla's web interface, but instead they send a private mail to me or to whoever they want to reply to. I'm very likely to never see or open such private mails, because I receive an avalanche of non-spam mails. When I do read such a mail I do occasionally copy and paste it into the matching bug report, but that's quite a hassle.
@ Frédéric I no longer care whether you make mailing our bugzilla possible, or whether you add that message to the footer, please do whatever you can do closest to now :-) I'm totally incapable of processing the private mails that I get about bug reports, I don't even process that ones that I see.
