Description Ben McMonagle 2017-05-01 09:01:32 CEST
Description of problem: During an upgrade of Mga5.1 to Mga 6 using the Mgaapplet distribution upgrade, the *Distribution Upgrade* info box text become black on a black background. this also affects some applications i.e, the scroll bar in firefox, network monitor if open. see attached screengrab

Initial system is :Mga 5.1 (all DE, servers and workstations less development and network computer(client)) fully updated.

upgrade was initiated by opening a terminal in the KDE desktop as user and using the following

$ killall mgaapplet
$ mgaapplet --testing

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible: both i586 and x86_64

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create an updated Mga5.1 (all DE, servers and workstations less development and network computer(client))
2.use the above commands to initiate the upgrade from KDE desktop
3.at about 800 packages, the info window changes to black text on black background

Wondering whether bug 20762 and this one have the same cause.

Similar to what was said on IRC:

Dave is probably right about no /root/drakx/report.bug being created for a mgaonline upgrade, but maybe there's some magic I'm not aware of.... please check whether you see files from the upgrade in /root/drakx/

To get the systemd logs from the upgrade, you need to either know how many boots ago you ugraded, or the from-until times of it.

* If you only rebooted once since upgrading, then, as root

     journalctl -ab-1 > log.txt

will give you the needed logs, if you rebooted twice

     journalctl -ab-2 > log.txt

  will give them, etc.

* If you don't know how many boots ago, you can use something like:

 journalctl -a --since="2017-04-30 18:00" --until="2017-04-30 22:00" > log.txt

 (adjust the times as needed)

(CC'ing mageiatools and KDE maintainers)

* To compress log.txt, please use xz:

           xz log.txt

and then attach log.txt.xz to this bug report.

* Please (assuming no report.bug from the time of the upgrade exists) do also
attach lspci.txt that's that result of

       lspcidrake -v > lspci.txt

Thanks :-)

The first mga6 package appears at 11:47:51 in the logs.
Apr 30 11:47:51 localhost.localdomain [RPM][5991]: install glibc-6:2.22-24.mga6.x86_64: success

The 800th package, IINM, was
Apr 30 12:47:44 localhost.localdomain [RPM][5991]: install kdegraphics-mobipocket-2:16.12.3-1.mga6.x86_64: success

If there's any error in the logs that's related to the black on black problem, then I fail to see it.

Assinging to the mageiatools maintainers, they'll reassign if needed.

Comment 6 Ben McMonagle 2017-05-07 12:30:34 CEST
it appears to be when oxygen-gtk3 is removed.
(removal dialogue is too fast to see the name)
this is installed in the same batch as gedit (package 769)
and amorak (package 760)
libreoffice-core (package 734)

I am guessing it would be removed in the same batch
