AFAIK, all those errors can be ignored.

However, it would be nice if they could be suppressed.

the format warning comes from /usr/share/bootsplash/scripts/remove-boot-splash from bootsplash

Yes, I also see it on drakxtools update.

defaulting background resolution to 1600x1200
remove-boot-splash: Format of /boot/initrd-4.9.26-desktop-1.mga6.img not recognized

Seems resolution test can not figure out default resolution. Mine is

$ xdpyinfo | grep dimensions
  dimensions:    1280x1024 pixels (338x270 millimeters)

Comment 5 Marja Van Waes 2018-09-12 21:37:08 CEST
At least this part is stil valid in cauldron:

Running scriptlet: kernel-desktop-4.18.7-1.mga7-1-1.mga7.x86_64       154/154
cannot get info for device (6:0:0:1) at /usr/lib/libDrakX/detect_devices.pm line 272.

I don't see a "remove-boot-splash: Format of /boot/initrd-4.4.55-desktop-1.mga5.img not recognized" -like error in my logs of this cauldron, and am not sure in which Mageia version I've last seen it.

Version: 5 => Cauldron
