Description michael zeorlin 2017-03-12 22:38:59 CET
Description of problem:
Geforce 6150 SE has artifacts across screen with open driver and freezing/crash after loading Nvidia 304.xx driver

problems exist in Mageia 6 sta2 & can be reproduced in the following distros:

Fedora 25 & Linux Mint 18.1

No such issues exist on PCLinuxOS 2016 to the 2017.03 live DVD (I hope that helps nail down the package version number a little)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
nvidia 304 driver in sta2 release (perhaps updates to a few days afterwards initial release?)

How reproducible:
Panels eventually blur prior to complete screen freeze/blur within minutes of every login into Plasma desktop. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace & other attempts to force log out result in no action & screen remains frozen until a hard restart via holding the power button. Problems seem less severe in IceWM & other packages & desktop can be installed. Attempts to login to XFCE after installing result in a blank screen & a return to the login screen within a few seconds after every attempt to login.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install on hardware with Geforce 6150 SE graphics via DVD or login to Plasma Live DVD version of 6 sta2
2. attempt to to install proprietary nvidia 304 drivers
3. log into plasma 5 or XFCE desktop using nvidia 304 drivers
