I'd like to suggest to not install the package xscreensaver by default on Xfce4. It leads to a double lock, and you are asked twice to unlock it. As noticed by the QA-team testing the Xfce live isos, sta2. Xfce's own Power Manager is enough. Affected packages: - task-xfce - task-xfce-minimal (- task-xfce-plugins, not sure) - xfce4-settings

But then there's no screensaver available, only display blanking. What if we check xscreensaver and xcfe4-powermanager settings to find out a good combination so that both doesn't lock screen and ask pwd?
Yes, I know. This would be my personal choice, and I checked other xfce distros, they don't install xscreensaver by default. If you want to keep xscreensaver: change it to not ask for the password? But I leave it to you to make a sensible choice. You are more experienced than me.
(In reply to Chris B from comment #2) > If you want to keep xscreensaver: change it to not ask for the password? xscreensaver is also the default screen saver of LXDE and there is no integrated mechanism in LXDE to automatically lock the screen so the current configuration of xscreensaver should not be changed if we do not want to introduce a regression in LXDE.
