Description of problem: under kde4 (not tested from gnome), gecko-mediaplayer plugin (g-m-p) hangs google chrome browser quite often. Some web pages become unresponsive then the whole chrome application. With firefox it works fine. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gecko-mediaplayer-1.0.0-2.mga1 How reproducible: 1) install chromium browser or dl it from google urpmi urpmi chromium-browser 2) install gecko-mediaplayer plugin urpmi gecko-mediaplayer 3) go to http://mail.google.com then your chrome browser may (or not) hang. It's a know bug: see http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=77274 Looks like there is a workaround by recompiling g-m-p --with-gconf=no see here : http://groups.google.com/group/gecko-mediaplayer/browse_thread/thread/3e889fd1e5cc24c8?pli=1 JC
Please test gecko-mediaplayer-1.0.0-2.1.mga1 from core/updates_testing, should land there soon.

Sounds like the new gecko-mediaplayer-1.0.0-2.1.mga1 from core/updates_testing has fixed the bug ! No more hangs so far :) thanks
Thanks for the feedback. This is an official update request, gecko-mediaplayer in mga1 core/release had a bug where it hanged chromium-browser. Upstream report: http://code.google.com/p/gecko-mediaplayer/issues/detail?id=64 http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=24507#c7 Most major distros (Ubuntu, RPMFusion in Fedora) have built gecko-mediaplayer without gconf support to fix this issue. Test case: - Install gecko-mediaplayer-1.0.0-2.mga1 from core/release; and chromium-browser - Try to use chromium under any DE other than GNOME (and make sure no gvfs* processes are running), sometimes the whole app just hangs - Install gecko-mediaplayer-1.0.0-2.1.mga1 from core/updates_testing then try again, the issue shouldn't happen any more Proposed advisory text: =========================================== Due to an upstream bug in Chromium-browser, it would hang on occasion if gecko-mediaplayer is installed. This update provides gecko-mediaplayer with GConf support disabled, to workaround this issue.
