Description Maurice Batey 2017-01-25 17:11:26 CET
Description of problem:

In a Mageia-6-sta2 Plsama 'Folder View' screen, when defining a 'Link to application' and specifying the desired label (e.g. "xyz") the icon appears on screen with the label "Link to application" instead of "xyz".

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. R.click on [Plasma] Folder View desktop
2. Select Create New/Link to application
3. In the 'General' tab, replace the text 'Link to application' with the required label text, and complete the other 2 tabs
4. Hit 'OK'.
5. New icon appears on screen labelled "Link to application"!

N.B. The ~/Desktop/xyz.desktop file can be edited to show the required label text, so as to correct what the system failed to do in the first place.

The same problem occurs on real h/w non-UEFI non-GPT desktop and also UEFI/GPT laptop.

I'm away from base with minimal facilities this week.
Will try next week if still needed...

Two years later, and this irritating bug is still here in Mageia-7 as well as -6, having failed to keep a reminder to follow it up... AAAGGGHHH!

$64 question:

To report this upstream e.g. as a KDE bug, anyone know how to pin down the RPM involved, please?

Users who have experienced this problem are encouraged to upgrade to the latest update of their distribution, and if this issue turns out to still be reproducible in the latest update, please reopen this bug with additional information.

Closing as OLD.
