Description of problem: Run in LXQt (i didnt tested other DEs yet but it happens on 2 different Computer systems) If you open Abiword, you see the menubar and other things like it should, only the textfield is completely black and you cant read something. If you scrool the black screen gets white for a short time and you can see text... after that everything gets black again. The screen flickers. How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start in LXQt 2. Start Abiword (blank or load an file) 3. It shows the textfield completely black and flickers on scrooling -- I "googled" a bit and i dont know ifs something similar to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1287835
Video of it under LXDE (happens also in VM): https://youtu.be/4XolRGsDux0

I can reproduce it in lxqt from startx in a new user account on cauldron x86-64 with sandy bridge intel graphics. It also happens on Xfce on my default user. It seems unlikely to be a Mageia-specific bug though.
confirm for MGA6 Final (LXdE) both i586 and x86_64

meant to add, Tried several themes but did not seem to make a difference
Confirmed the bug. Installed abiword on GNOME Cauldron (Xorg) and started with a blank page. That was black but turned white on a left-mouse-click and stayed that way until the cursor left the text field - turned black then. Opened an existing file in a new window, which started black but could be cleared with a mouse-click. Scrolling involves leaving the text field and the window turns black.

Confirmed, M6 32b vbox. DE: Xfce. Exactly as Ben and Len described. Tried 5 different themes, compositor on or off.

Note that abiword-3.0.2-6.fc26.x86_64 is working fine on fedora 26 x86-64.
@Shlomi: Can you push abiword 3.0.2 as an update, as several users seem to be affected, see also bug 18061 for a pretty similar issue. Seems abiword is not really usable on mga6 currently.

Seems abiword is > not really usable on mga6 currently. version 3.0.2 of abiword still reproduces the problem on Cauldron, rendering abiword unusable, so there is no point in issuing an update for mga6.
This problem still exists on M7beta1: abiword-3.0.2-5.mga7 I saw it under Gnome (other desktops to try), so it is probably desktop independent. Since AbiWord is, alas, known for trashing documents if you push it at all - why do we still offer it? It would be useful if it was reliable.
still valid for : Mageia-7-beta2-i586.iso DATE.txt: Wed Jan 30 22:29:58 CET 2019
Keywords: (none) => 7beta2
Also valid for Mageia-7-beta2-x86_64.iso (Jan. 30th) But works fine on Fedora29 with version 3.0.2-13.fc29 :-) I don't mind if it's removed from mga7, I've never used Abiword... ;-)

It seems that there are patches upstream (see comment #2 for upstream bugreport link) and also its marked as fixed on 11.08.2018 (see also upstream report - comment #67 and #71 - the patch seems not to included as file-attachment in the bugreport but there are notes that it is included in trunk). I tried the flatpak of abiword (which included the patches) and it works for me with MGA7 Cauldron.
Since yesterday update in MGA Cauldron its much better now and useable, but theres still some little GUI flickering.
Closing as fixed. Works since last update anymore for me. Thanks.
