Hi team Mageia,
Is it possible to package the Vivaldi Browser ?
You have sources here https://vivaldi.com/source/
Thanks

Yeah, that's the beauty with open source code that has the right license form.

You're free to build it locally and then add the spec-file to this bugreport.

Read these pages to start learning how to create a package for testing purposes before it's released: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Packaging_for_beginners

Summary: Vivaldi => Vivaldi browser - as Opera should've been

If I ask for this package it is for a packager to do it, not me!

I know, but we don't have that many packagers to package every request so I just suggested that you'd package it and apply to become its maintainer.

Chill, man! Chill. :)

You're overstepping your role Kristoffer, you should not talk like that to bug reporters. If you want to help with the bug triage effort, that's great, but please get a mentor (see #mageia-bugsquad) to learn how to handle them.

Resolution: WONTFIX => (none)

Comment 6 Rémi Verschelde 2017-01-21 16:51:05 CET
Assigning to all packagers collectively.

Note about licensing: Vivaldi is a priorietary freeware with open source components. It could probably be packaged in nonfree just like Opera was, though.

For the record, the bug report has been closed as WONTFIX by the bug reporter himself, not Mageia packagers.

There are no packagers and I don't want to be a packager for this "useless" software

There are packagers but they can't package everything indeed. What makes you so upset about it? You'd like us to prioritize bug reports in a different way?

Also, note that Kristoffer is not a packager either.
