Description of problem:Running plasma 5 with KDE desktop. I am using the blue Mageia background with a number ofl icons on the desktop. I plugged in a TV and set up the two screen to be the same, and the regular desktop was mirrored on the screen. I watched a movie with Chrome full screen. After about an hour, when I once again went from full screen to regular the desktop had disappeared. No background except black. No icons. I tried to open a tiny little menu icon at thee top right and did a configure desktop and chose a background which was displayed. I could also place new icons (really tiny) onto the new blank desktop but they were all frozen in place ( but did respond to clicks.) I tried to do AC-Bksp, and back, and this new aborted desktop swas still there. I tried rebooting and it was still there. I finally unplugged the TV and my old desctop and all its regular sized icons reappeared. When I plugged in the TV again the new abortive desktop was back. I have no idea what triggered this or what I can do to get the old destop back all the time. This mightt to have something to do with Activities, whatever they are. When I unplugged the TV after a while I accidentally hit the Activities icon on the task bar, and a pane came down with two Activities items, the Desktop and another unnamed one, which I removed. But this does not solve theproblem, as when I plug the TV back in, I again get that second Desktop with the tiny, unmoveable icons on it. I have no idea how I can get back to having the same desktop when I have the TV plugged in as I have when it is not. Clearly this is some configuration problem, but I have no idea what or where.
Interesting, sounds somewhat similar to Bug 19294.
