Description Olav Dahlum 2011-07-03 12:41:58 CEST
According to Thorsten Behrens, a developer and member of the TDF Steering Committee, âLibreOffice 3.3.3 fixes several bugs and improves the security of the suite, to specifically address the needs of corporate deployments, where stability is more important than new features. This branch will be maintained until the end of the year, to allow a smooth and safe transition to LibreOffice 3.4.x.â

The git log should be more revealing.

Comment 4 Dave Hodgins 2011-07-09 06:08:47 CEST
As a qa member, I have updates testing enabled, and have picked up 3.3.3.1.

I've confirmed LibreOffice Writer, Calc, Impress, Base, and Draw, can all run
and open existing files (except Draw, where I didn't have an existing file,
so I created one), and tested the libreoffice program from the command line.

From my point of view, for such a large package, that is sufficient qa testing,
as bugs in the actual running of the programs will likely have to go upstream
anyway.

Once testing is complete on x86-64, the following packages can go from

No problem so far with this version, installed as soon as it was made available. However, we still need testing on x86_64

Comment 9 José Jorge 2011-07-25 17:13:20 CEST
Yes I forgot to mention it here, but #2272 is about a reproductible crash, I think we should upgrade to 3.4.1 as this crash has disappeared in Cauldron.
Comment 10 Serge Moreau 2011-07-27 15:38:26 CEST
See my comment in bug 2272

I observed similar crashes, see my recent post :

https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=851

the log i got :

Comment 11 David GEIGER 2011-08-05 09:22:34 CEST
For my part,I tested LibreOffice-3.3.3.1-0.1.mga1 on Mageia release 1 (Official) for x86_64.

I tested with several different files:".docx-.doc-.xls-.ppt-.pps" and I have no problem.

However, there is just one of my files ".doc" to crash at startup LO :

-This crash only when the page LO is minimized.(using the double click to open)
-To work around this problem, open LO writer, maximize the page and close it.
-Now I can open my ".doc" file by double clicking,LO writer no longer crashes with this file.

So, what I found on LibreOffice ,And as said it is only with one of my files ".doc".

And does this crash occur also with libreoffice 3.3.2.2 ?

Sorry I do not know, unfortunately I have not tested on LibreOffice 3.3.2.2.

You could uninstall libreoffice and reinstall it with the updates_testing media unactivated to do the test. It would be useful to check whether it's a regression or not.
Comment 15 David GEIGER 2011-08-05 10:56:32 CEST
So,I just uninstall LibreOffice 3.3.3.1 and reinstall LibreOffice 3.3.2.2

The problem remains the same,so it's not a regression for LibreOffice 3.3.3.1

By cons, to be sure to was install the default packages LibreOffice
can you give me please a list of packages that are installed by default with a 64bit DVD Mageia 1?

Thank you in advance.
Comment 16 D Morgan 2011-08-19 16:25:16 CEST
can we validate this update ? as the mentionned bug isn't a regression?

we will work on the issue on the other bugreport.
Comment 17 Sigrid Carrera 2011-08-19 18:31:55 CEST
LibreOffice 3.3.4 came out this week.
Should we skip the update for 3.3.3 and go directly to 3.3.4?

Comment 18 Dave Hodgins 2011-08-20 04:24:37 CEST
Let's go ahead and push this update, as it has been tested on both
architectures, and the only bug found is not a regression.

Can someone from the sysadmin team push the srpm
libreoffice-3.3.3.1-0.1.mga1.src.rpm
from Core Updates Testing to Core Updates please.

end of the year, to allow a smooth and safe transition to LibreOffice 3.4.x.

Comment 20 Serge Moreau 2011-09-02 15:25:21 CEST
I installed LO 3.4.3 from cauldron on mageia1. Clearly in this case i did not further observed any crash as mention in comment 10.

I previously updated with 3.3.3.1, that did not resolved the problem.

So for me a backport of 3.4.x.x Libreoffice should constitue a solution.

Comment 21 D Morgan 2011-09-02 15:50:41 CEST
i will push LO 3.3.4 later but i have some compilation problems.
Comment 22 José Jorge 2011-09-02 18:19:35 CEST
SErge talks about 3.4.3, not 3.3.4.
Anyway, it seems it is libhunspell that causes the crash I reported in #2272. A silly work around is to have already a LO open before trying to open the documents that trigger crashes.
Comment 23 Serge Moreau 2011-09-02 20:16:59 CEST
However, I just checked that following your comment, I am still with libhunspell 1.2 from mageia1, and LO 3.4.3 from mageia2 (x86-64). libhunspell from mageia2 is 1.3 !
