in a new user account on JWM (or Xfce or Plasma 5) I get intrusive on screen artefacts (colored
green, grey, with vertical lines/etc.) after playing
this file using «mpv --vo=vaapi» or «vlc»:

http://www.shlomifish.org/Files/files/video/The%20all%20american%20rejects%20new%20song%20w-Lyrics%20-%20Gives%20you%20hell-hamHPC7BuIc.flv

Note that «mpv --vo=opengl» or --vo=xv play the file fine.

It doesn't happen on the same machine in my Debian Testing partition (which
wasn't updated in a while) and running that mpv command line on kernel 4.8.15
built from source causes these artefacts and then the screen and keyboard
completely freeze.

I should note that other people I talked with on ##linux on freenode with Intel Graphics and recent systems were unable to reproduce the problem. I also tried downgrading many packages that were recently installed and it didn't fix the problem.

Is this bug still there with new mpv?

with mpv-0.24.0-3.mga6 I'm getting the problem when not specifying a --vo flag but not with --vo=vaapi (it plays the video find with it). Hope it helps.
