Also entered upstream: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373897 Steps to Reproduce: 1. open attached original.jpg in gwenview 2. rotate right 3. save. -> You will see a result like result.jpg when opening it anew in gwenview or another viewer. Original.jpg is original file scanned from a newspaper. Rotated.jpg is saved from gwenview after having rotated original right. You see the leftmost text character column is chopped off, and then added rightmost (and it looks like that part it is mirrored)

is it still valid on current cauldron ?
CC: (none) => mageia
Still valid. Can you test if it works for you: download https://bugs.mageia.org/attachment.cgi?id=8803, open with gwenview, rotate right using the button, save, close, open and see the error: at right edge are mirror of characters that should be at left edge. If you can repeat, please post confirmative upstream.
Still valid. Also tested on a fresh Mageia 6 install this morning, now on i586. Kolourpaint and Showfoto handles the rotation OK.
After four years: confirmed upstream. There is hope... :)
