Description Ben McMonagle 2016-11-11 06:37:51 CET
Description of problem:using the i586 C.I .iso on local HDD, booting using boot.iso, and attempting to upgrade a fully updated Mga4.1 on real hardware fails with " "nnn" installation transactions failed" (where "nnn"is a number).
a list of failed transactions is listed. attempting to continue the install repeats the above with a lower number of failed transactions. install will eventually fail completely, and will need to be rebooted to continue, but it again fails with " "nnn" installation transactions failed"

I guess some of this could be remedied by including some additional packages on the ISO, but upgrades using an ISO are never guaranteed to work. If a netinstall upgrade (boot.iso/all.img) doesn't work, then we need to fix that.

I'm not sure we support upgrading from a version that was EOL'ed long ago :-/

It's been discussed already: we do. Or we don't release Mageia 5.1. Or we remove the upgrade option from ISOs.

Online upgrade of 4.1 to 5.1 using non-free 32 bit boot.iso (HTTP) completes with no issues except for:

@ Ben

Please attach (after compressing it) the /root/drakx/report.bug file which has the time stamp that matches the upgrade

switch to tty2 with ctrl+alt+F2
insert a USB key
type:
