Description Chris Denice 2016-09-27 19:19:07 CEST
Wmweather is currently broken on mga5 due to a change of url from which information is retrieved. I have uploaded a patched package for Mageia 5 in core/updates_testing fixing this issue.

You can test this by starting in a terminal:

wmweather -s EBBR

that should show a dockapp with weather conditions at the Brussels airport, very useful for FOSDEM ;)

Suggested advisory:
========================

Updated wmweather package to fix a change of url for retrieving weather conditions from NOAA website.

Updated packages in {core,tainted}/updates_testing:
========================
wmweather-2.4.5-6.1.mga5

Source RPMs:
wmweather-2.4.5-6.1.mga5.src.rpm

Ran this on Mate, x86_64

My homespun weather program found the local weather station and Abu Dhabi International OK.
wmweather did not.

Installed the update.
$ wmweather -s EGPH
$ wmweather -s OMAA
Both generated a tiny display with time, temperature, dewpoint, pressure, humidity and wind direction.

I was unable to find a way to dock it to the Mate panel except as a custom application launcher because it did not appear in the system menus.

It works anyway.

A right-click brings up a report from the fully decoded METAR data:

Testing this in i586 virtualbox.

Failure before the update and success afterwards.
The .wmweather directory is established and the METAR data is stored there under the ICAO code. This is what is displayed on a left click.

$ wmweather -c -s EGPH &

produces a more colourful display; compatibility mode.

This update can be validated so would someone in sysadmin please push it to Updates.
