Description JanKusanagi 2016-09-22 05:44:44 CEST
Description of problem:

Installing mutt does not automatically install, neither via dependencies nor recommends, any of the several lib64sasl2-plug-* packages, although some of them will be needed for basic functionality.

I have 2 mutt configurations, one for a GMX.com account, and another one for gmail.com. Both of them use smtps to send mail, with a config line such as:
smtps://user@email.tld@mailserver.tld

Trying to send e-mail with either account fails with "No authenticators available". After reading about possible causes, I realized I needed some extra SASL2 modules. I tried installing lib64sasl2-plug-login, since I remembered that mutt on my older Mageia 5 machine stated "(LOGIN)" as method while logging into the server, and then it worked as expected.

Other configurations might require other plugins, I don't know. But at least, having lib64sasl2-plug-login at least as a "recommend" sounds like a good idea.

I imagine there might be cases, where sending mail is done through another MTA, in which users would not want to have that dependency.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
 Version : 1.7.0
 Release : 2.mga6

How reproducible:

Everytime, with GMX.com and Gmail.com accounts.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure mutt to send via smtps://
2. Try sending an e-mail
3. Mutt states "No authenticators available" without even asking for your password

That line about the mutt config should read:
set smtp_url = "smtps://user@email.tld@mailserver.tld"

Assigning to all packagers collectively, because of my impression that the maintainer is MIA.

@ Jérôme

Sorry if I'm wrong about that. I hope you're fine!

Feel free to assign this report to yourself if you read this.

This seems to be fixed in Cauldron's updates.
Whoever fixed it might have forgotten to reply to the bug report :p

Anyway, thanks!
