In bug report 19275 I reported on difficulties with the LIVE version. This week I decided to test the classic installation: -mageia-x86-64.iso (checksum correct; 2 year old machine) 1, The process went smoothly until the penultimate (?) step when the installer announced "could not update media". I backtracked and the process was completed and the system rebooted. I download some applications, which showed that the system was seeing the internet. I then shut down the machinje 2. The next day I booted up. I arrived at the login page, but could not login either as "roger" or as "root"
Hi Roger, If you weren't using a LAN adapter to connect to the internet, then the problem is most likely caused by your WLAN adapter needing a non-free package. Even if it is possible to install non-free packages during a classical installation, it is _not_ possible to use them before rebooting. If you were connected via a LAN adapter, or if you think your WLAN card works with free drivers, then please attach /root/drakx/report.bug.xz from that Classical install. The problem with logging in might be bug 18822. Do you have an accented character in your password and were you using SDDM (the default display manager for Plasma5)? Regards, Marja

Roger, could you please log into this bug report and reply?
Hello Marja, Sorry about not adding anything perviously. I thought that you just tell me what the problem might be. I have a wired ethernet connection to the internet and I do not think that that is the problem as everything else has worked perfectly. I purposely do not use accented passwords as I am constantly switching keyboards (I use the Spanish one for French and German when I am using \XeTex) and the US keyboard otherwise. >> were you using SDDM (the default display manager for Plasma5)? I had not changed anything so I imagine that I was using the default manager Unfortunately my wife's computer gave out and I had to give her the computer on which I was doing the cauldron testing. I reinstalled Mageia 5 while waiting for the stable version of Mageia 6. Thus I am unable to do any further testing on Cauldron. Again, sorry for not updating. Many thanks for the efforts of all the Mageia group. Roger
@ Roger Thanks for the feedback :-D So it is unlikely that the issues you hit are the known issues I mentioned. However, since you had to reinstall Mageia 5, any logs that can shed light on the problems and can help find the culprits, are gone. Because of that and because both SDDM and drakx-installer-stage2 have been updated (both several times, even) since you filed this report, I'll close this report as OLD. Next time, please file separate bug reports for separate issues ;-) If you don't know whether the problems you encounter are related & and basically only one problem, or unrelated & separate issues, then please ask for help to determine that in e.g. the forums, first.
