Description Dave Hodgins 2011-06-28 01:26:04 CEST
When I installed xine and it's plugins, the tainted libxine1-1.1.19.4 was
installed.

When I later ran urpmi --auto-update, it replaced the tainted library with
the core library with version 1.1.19.5.

The tainted version needs to be the same or greater than the core version.

xine-lib-1.1.19-5.mga1 has been submitted to tainted/updates_testing.

Comment 2 Dave Hodgins 2011-07-05 03:44:53 CEST
I'm having one slight problem with the tainted updates version of xine that
I don't think I had before. It keeps starting with the volume at 0.
Comment 3 Ahmad Samir 2011-07-05 04:39:09 CEST
What application? xine-lib doesn't provide any players.
Comment 4 Dave Hodgins 2011-07-05 22:21:00 CEST
I used xine from the xine-ui package to test libxine and the xine plugins.
Comment 5 Ahmad Samir 2011-07-06 02:34:26 CEST
I don't think plugins control the sound device volume levels, that's between the hw mixer <> pulse <> the player...

If you revert to the non-tainted packages, does the problem go away or persist?
Comment 6 Dave Hodgins 2011-07-06 03:23:45 CEST
It persists, so the problem is not related to this update.

I'll test under a new user, to see if it's a problem with my configuration,
and open a new bug report on the xine-ui package, if it isn't.

For the purpose of this bug report, the packages
xine-pulse
xine-wavpack
xine-jack
xine-flac
xine-faad
xine-gnomevfs
libxine1
libxine-devel
xine-smb
xine-image
xine-caca
xine-sdl
xine-dxr3
xine-plugins
xine-aa
from the srpm xine-lib-1.1.19-5.mga1.tainted.src.rpm
can be considered tested on i586. When tested on a 64 bit system, they
should be moved from Tainted Updates Testing to Tainted Updates
Comment 7 Renaud Michel 2011-07-06 18:44:20 CEST
I have tested lib64xine1 xine-plugins and xine-pulse (I don't have a use case to test the other plugins) on x86_64 and everything seems to work fine.

I don't have any sound problem, xine-ui doesn't change the volume on startup.

I also tested on x86_64, plays ok.

Comment 9 Dave Hodgins 2011-07-07 01:52:30 CEST
Can someone from the sysadmin team move the packages
xine-pulse
xine-wavpack
xine-jack
xine-flac
xine-faad
xine-gnomevfs
libxine1
libxine-devel
xine-smb
xine-image
xine-caca
xine-sdl
xine-dxr3
xine-plugins
xine-aa
from Tainted Updates Testing to Tainted Updates
the srpm is xine-lib-1.1.19-5.mga1.tainted.src.rpm
