Description Kenneth Marcy 2016-09-15 16:30:43 CEST
After using various Mageia packages for a while, one notices that the execution buttons, e.g. OK, Cancel, Close, etc., are located in different places, usually along the lower edge of a dialogue box. This enhancement request asks for a consideration and implementation across all relevant packages of a consistent placement of these execution buttons (i.e., buttons that ask to do something).

Details of the current situation: Sometimes the OK button is in the lower right corner. Other times there is a Cancel button there, and the OK button is just to the left. Occasionally the main execution button is in the lower left corner, and is labelled Install. And sometimes execution buttons for various options are missing altogether, as are the Cancel or Close buttons occasionally when reliance on the upper right-hand corner X is forced upon the user.

This enhancement bug is a request for user interface policy review, decisions about of what an attractive and effective user interface consists, and review and implementation of those decisions across the many Mageia packages. Yes, I do realize there are many opportunities for upstream participation in this effort.

It is impossible to do this for software for which we are not our own upstream.

If it was ever discussed whether all our tools should matching layouts with regard to where which buttons are placed, then I missed that discussion. We do not have such a policy https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Category:Policies

Assigning this request to the maintainers of the Mageia tools
