Description of problem: kalarm application is inconsistent when invoked by various methods.

from menu launcher : user gui presented

from Konsole : 
[live@localhost ~]$ kalarm
"Message recipient disconnected from message bus without replying"

from "run command" (alt +F2) : silently closes

1.boot above .iso to desktop
2.invoke "kalarm" by the methods described above
3.note the results
