/etc/inputrc can offer special key bindings while it should work with as many terminals as possible. I have been coyping around my /etc/inputrc since my OpenSuse times as many distros do not offer some key bindings I have got used to; f.i. I am used to pressing Ctrl-Up in order to search for the text at the left of the cursor in the history. This is a very useful feature. You may have a look at the /etc/inputrc provided with this report in order to supplement your own Mageia-inputrc (the provided one is a little bit longer as you will see). It is sufficient to invoke bash fromout of your current shell to make it re-read the /etc/inputrc for testing purposes.
