On a cauldron 64bits, the boot is very long due to failing a LSB network start (goes to time-out).

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for your feedback.

This line caught my eye:

But that was almost five years ago.

If you still have this problem, then please make sure that the nonfree repositories are enabled, that you have then updated your system and that the nonfree rtlwifi-firmware package is installed
