Description Noël-Antoine Kneib 2016-07-20 11:55:46 CEST
Description of problem:
-----------------------

During installation I was trying to connect with wifi interface, but it never success.
Each time I selected mode auto but it didn't be save.

In install log I have had this message :

Error : Too many levels of recursion in macro expansion. It is likely caused by reccursive macro declaration.
GLib-CRITICAL ** : Source ID 82416 was not found when attempting to remove it at /usr/lib/libDrakX/interactive/gtk.pm line 924

(The number 82416 were incremented at each try)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
I just try to connect during the installation, so it is reproductible as well.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. during install chose connect with wifi
2. choose the wifi card
3. choose the network
3. enter connexion information (auto mode, kind of key (wpa), the key )
4. try to connect with that

Having troubles to connect to WiFi during the installation is a known issue (and difficult to fix one AFAIK, as the necessary features and drivers are not available at this step), but the error message is intriguing, so assigning Thierry to have a look at it.

I think you might have debug logs from the install in /root/drakx/report.bug.xz, if so can you attach the archive here?

Thanks, Noël-Antoine, and sorry for the very late reply

Afaics, you used a Classical (non-Live, non-Network) iso.

For almost all wlan cards, a non-free driver is needed.
Even if they can be installed with the Cclassical iso after enabling a nonfree repository, they do not work while installing from the classical iso.

If that behaviour gets changed, it'll be done for cauldron first and then, when everybody is happy with it, it'll land in the first stable Mageia version that is released next. Already released ISOs cannot be fixed.
There is already an existing bug report about this issue for Cauldron, bug 16172

Instead of a classical iso, you could use a Live iso. Live isos allow to use non-free drivers before and while installing.

Alternatively, you can use a Mageia netinstall-nonfree iso, for instance this one:
ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/os/linux/mageia/distrib/6/x86_64/install/images/Mageia-6-netinstall-nonfree-x86_64.iso
Read bug #9541 before you do that, though: netinstall doesn't work, yet, with wpa encryption!
