there is now a kernel-linus-2.6.38.8-1.mga1 in bs on the way to updates_testing it updates to latest stable, and fixes CVE-2011-1017 (I cant fix the other CVE's in this one as it has to stay unpatched like upstream) This is also the upstream reference kernel we verify our core kernel regressions against.
This bug report represents multiple packages, which I've tested on my 32 bit system. kernel-linus-source-2.6.38.8-1.mga-1-1.mga1.i586 installed kernel-linus-devel-2.6.38.8-1.mga-1-1.mga1.i586 installed kernel-linus-2.6.38.8-1.mga-1-1.mga1.i586 installed kernel-linus-latest-2.6.38.8-1.mga1.i586 installed kernel-linus-devel-latest-2.6.38.8-1.mga1.i586 installed kernel-linus-doc-2.6.38.8-1.mga1.noarch installed kernel-linus-source-latest-2.6.38.8-1.mga1.i586 installed I've tested that the various "latest" packages by selecting them in rpmdrak, and confirming the proper packages were also selected. I've tested the actual kernel packages by confirming it installs, and boots ok. I think trying to test that it fixes the cve is beyond the scope of the Mageia qa team. I've tested the -devel by installing VirtualBox, and confirming dkms finds the kernel headers. For the doc package, I just confirmed that it installed, and the files were readable. For the source package, I did a cd to /usr/src/kernel-linus-2.6.38.8-1.mga and ran "make xconfig", which failed with make[1]: *** No rule to make target `scripts/kconfig/.tmp_qtcheck', needed by `scripts/kconfig/qconf.o'. Using "make menuconfig" works. I think the problem with make xconfig should be reported upstream, but should not block Mageia from accepting the package. If someone with a 64 bit system can repeat these tests, I think these packages are ready to be moved from updates-testing, to updates.

I have repeat all the process of Dave Same issue with make xconfig, without that all works (dkms-wl and broadcom also) One think: on desktop kernel uname -a give me: Linux vosdook 2.6.38.7-desktop-1.mga #1 SMP Sun May 22 11:37:00 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux on the linus kernel: Linux vosdook 2.6.38.8-1.mga #1 SMP Wed Jun 22 21:58:47 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Why just 2.6.38.8-1.mga ? Is it good ?
I don't know why it's just 2.6.38.8-1, but I think the testing for this update can be considered complete. Can someone from the sysadmin team push the packages kernel-linus-source-latest kernel-linus-source-2.6.38.8-1.mga kernel-linus-devel-2.6.38.8-1.mga kernel-linus-2.6.38.8-1.mga kernel-linus-latest kernel-linus-doc kernel-linus-devel-latest from Core Updates Testing to Core Updates please. The srpm is kernel-linus-2.6.38.8-1.mga1.src.rpm
