Description of problem: As summary. In a fresh plasma net install, when adding dolphin to the panel a space is allocated to the icon which works when clicked, but no icon is displayed. Attempting to edit the icon by right clicking the 'space' a context menu is displayed offering 'icon settings' and 'panel options'. Left clicking the 'icon settings' option opens a 'keyboard shortcuts' window. WTF? This is a mess. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

I haven't noticed that on my 6sta1 install. I added dolphin to the panel and it shows its icon just fine.
I just made a clean plasma install and indeed this does not happen. However this does happen (guessing) when using a /home that came from Mga5/KDE4 so how can it be fixed?
The Dolphin icon changed for Plasma, so your KDE4 panel entry is probably pointing to a non-existent icon. You can either find the .desktop file and change the icon to something that exists, or (easier) delete the panel entry and re-add Dolphin to the panel.

Thanks Frank, I had tried to access the desktop file by right clicking the "icon" but that now opens a "Keyboard Shortcuts" dialog which I have no clue about. In KDE4 right click edit (IIRC) allowed the desktop file, icon etc. all to be edited but no more. I had also removed and replaced dolphin on the panel with no change, however I just added another and this time it worked. I then removed the old "gap" with no ill-effects so this seems resolved. I have also done a net-upgrade from Mga5 to Cauldron with an original dolphin on Mga5 panel. Adding dolphin to the panel in Mga6 after upgrade worked fine, so closing as invalid.
