Description of problem: In Mageia 1 32-bits DVD KDE, there is only one energy profile, so in a laptop or netbook the energy issue will not be managed properly. How reproducible: Go to systemsettings and then to Energy Management. You can see only one profile: "Performance".
Did you install the dvd on a laptop/netbook ?

(In reply to comment #3) > Hum i just did an installation using x86_64 DVD & i'm not missing the energy > profile even if i did the installation on my workstation :/ The complaint wasn't that there isn't an energy profile, the complaint was, that the only available preset one is "performance". On my laptop (mageia 1 X86_64), I too had only the greedy "performance" energyprofile, but it is very easy to make extra profiles and to make those extra ones use less energy. It would of course be nice if installer, upon detecting the system is a laptop or netbook, would set a profile that uses energy more sparingly. But I guess something must be changed in plasma-krunner-powerdevil first, to make this possible, so assigning to you, John ;)

By « i'm not missing the energy profile » i mean that i have the default 3 of them so i can't reproduce here :/
(In reply to comment #5) > By « i'm not missing the energy profile » i mean that i have the default 3 of > them so i can't reproduce here :/ Well, even on my desktop I don't have the other ones, nor in 1, nor in cauldron (i586), only the Performance one is there I can't find any .kpmsprofiles file anywhere, BTW. Should I have one?
I'm not sure but if you put the laptop/netbook batery during the installation, all energy profiles will be installed. I must probe that.
(In reply to comment #7) > I'm not sure but if you put the laptop/netbook batery during the installation, > all energy profiles will be installed. I must probe that. I have a removable battery, too, it is very well possible that it wasn't in my laptop during Mageia install.
(In reply to comment #7) > I'm not sure but if you put the laptop/netbook batery during the installation, > all energy profiles will be installed. I must probe that. Well i don't have any battery on my workstation and it still installed :/ Btw if you « reset » to default , can you get the 3 default profiles ?
> > Btw if you « reset » to default , can you get the 3 default profiles ? No, nor on my X86_64 laptop with Mageia 1, nor on the 32 bit desktop. I'm not 100% sure I tried that on both partitions of that desktop, though, I'll retry.

I'm not > 100% sure I tried that on both partitions of that desktop, though, I'll retry. Retried on both partitions and also tried as a different user, resetting to default leaves me with nothing but the Performance profile.
This message is a reminder that Mageia 1 is nearing its end of life. In approximately 25 days from now, Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 1. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '1'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 1's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 1 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. -- Mageia Bugsquad
