Description Barry Jackson 2016-06-01 18:20:14 CEST
Description of problem:
In KDE4 there was always the option to copy date/time in various formats from the clock to the clipboard.
This is missing in Plasma5.
It is addressed in this upstream bug:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355190
...and a patch has been accepted for 5.7.1.

I did test the patch when it was first presented in the plasma-workspace at the time and it did apply, and worked just fine, however it now fails to apply.

It would be good to include this feature back into plasma5 if possible.

patch

Original patch from upstream bug report - it did apply OK to the plasma-workspace that was current in Cauldron on 8th April.

Apparently upstream wants it for 5.7.0 at the earliest because there's one new string which would therefore not be properly localized.

Personally I'd be for using the patch, I prefer a useful functionality which shows in English than no functionality; but in the end it's Nicolas' call, if he wants to stick to the upstream decision, we'll probably do.

So here we are in 5.7.95 and it's still missing :\

I poked the upstream bug report.

For 5.11.0! Better late than never I guess :\

Finally!

https://phabricator.kde.org/R120:ffa23acf440b0a162a9458f06622d2c98ed3f80c

This is for 5.13 so I guess we could patch 5.12.x with this for testing in Cauldron?
Comment 6 David GEIGER 2018-04-12 22:43:45 CEST
So fixed for Cauldron now!

please test it and if all is good I'll backport this patch for mga6 too.
