One can edit the entry and get to the grub prompt. It's the disk cache patch that is causing problems. Somehow the patch breaks btrfs and lvm.

Yes - I will push update without the patch to release now. My mistake - I pushed later changes not realizing that the patched version was only pushed to updates_testing previously.

Maybe a good thing that it was pushed in error as that way we got a wider test audience and found this side effect ;)
I have the similar problem with btrfs on lvm, but in my case it cannot even show grub menu: https://ml.mageia.org/l/arc/dev/2016-05/msg00410.html Though, it may be caused by the encrypted lvm.
