Description Alain Choucroot 2016-05-09 15:28:13 CEST
Description of problem: Since lib64cryptopp6-5.6.2 update, Synergy (the mouse/keyboard sharing software) does not work properly. Indeed, after the update into lib64cryptopp6-5.6.3, the synergy server always disconnects a few seconds after a client connection

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): synergy-1.5.0

How reproducible: always

Steps to Reproduce:
0. on a Mageia machine, Configure a synergy configuration with a server and a client ( using the crypto-mode cfb )
1. launch the synergy server
2. launch the synergy client from the other machine ( tested with synergyc 1.4.12 from a win7 pc)
3. after a few seconds, the mouse and keyboard sharing is down. The client effectively warns the connexion has been lost, whereas the server does not trace anything.

workaround : in the synergy.conf file, set a big value on the heartbeat

section: options
#       heartbeat = 10000000

Hi Alain,

I just rebuild synergy against libcryptopp 5.6.3 on 5/Core/Updates_testing repo, could you test with this update if synergy now work properly?

Thanks in advance!

ok, I reinstalled the updated packages

[afb@localhost ~]$ rpm -qf `which synergy`
synergy-gui-1.5.0-3.1.mga5

Then I relaunched synergy ( ensured the heartbeat parameter was commented ;-).
I do claim that it works fine again !

Assigning to QA,

Advisory:
=============================

Many users have reported that synergy doesn't work properly anymore, due to a recurrent disconnection from a configured synergy server using the crypto-mode cfb, since a recent security update of libcryptopp.
This update is simply a rebuild against this new libcryptopp and fixes this issue.

Packages in 5/core/updates_testing:
========================
synergy-1.5.0-3.1.mga5
synergy-gui-1.5.0-3.1.mga5

Source RPM:

Working fine here, though I don't use the cfb crypto.

Advisory added to svn, validating the update.
