Does Writer show up if you run the following command as root in a terminal and then logout/login? sed -i 's!X-MandrivaLinux-CrossDesktop!X-Mageia-CrossDesktop!' /usr/share/applications/libreoffice-writer.desktop

Just to be clear, by no icon you mean that there is a desktop entry, but with no libreoffice-specific icon, or that it is no desktop entry?
