Description of problem: korganizer forgets all calenders I had an extensive list of events, dating back over 10 years. Both in Mga4 and MGA5 they suddenly disappeared. There were not calenders listed in the bottom left corner of Korganiser. There were no events lists on any dates, If I tried to create and save a event, it would not let me as it did not know where to save them. Under Settings->Configure Korganizer->Calenders, there were a bunch listed with Ready signs. But I could not activate any of them. I finally erased all of .kde5, relogged in, and suddenly some Calenders appeared in the bottom left of the main window, and my events appeared in the dates again. I now have 4 Personal Calendar items, one Birthdays and Anniversaries, one dates.ics ( which is the file under which I used to save stuff) and one std.ics. I had put in a test event with title TeStInG and I did a grep -r on that and found it in .local/share/akonadia/db_data/ib_logfile{0,1} which seemed to be part of the Personal Calendar. Another event labeled Amazonian Symposium was also there, but it appeared to be a part of dates.ics (It disappeard if I clicked off "dates.ics" Note that there is nothing except a file called std.ics and of a very small size in .kde4/share/apps/korganizer/ which is where the dates.ics used to located. A calendar program which loses all of your dates at random is a pretty useless It may be that I am having trouble because the whole structure of korganizer has been changed to use akonadia, but there is nothing in any of the documentation. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): korganizer-4.14.5-1.mga5 How reproducible: Well it has happened twice-- once with Mga3 and once with MGA5. I have no idea what caused it. When I saw that it was working in MGA5 I was happy. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use korganizer for a while 2.Wait until suddenly all events disappear and cannot be resurected. Note that this happened on two separate machine. I wish I know what triggered this. But there were no error messages I could see, even if I started korganizer from a Konsole so I could see error messages. It is possible that this was something I did, but I have no idea what it could be.

Some more information. If I right clicked on any of the Personal Calendar items at the bottom left of the Korganzer screen, and chose Calendar Properties, it would show all fields blank. Ie, no files associated with any of them. The std.ics item did have .kde4/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics associated with it. I then chose one of the Personal calandar items which, if only it was chosen, displayed no events in korganizer in a number of month views, and used File->Export to created and ics file. If that file was empty of all items, I then right click->Delete Calendar on it. I was able to do this until only one Personal Calendar was left. Now suddenly in its Calendar Properties, the file .kde4/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics was associated with it, and there was nothing with std.ics. But still if I clicked off std.ics, some items would disappear from the events on some months. Thus, I now have a system in which one of the Calendars, std.ics has not file assocated with it, one Personal Calendar has a file .kde4/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics associated with it, and both seem to have events which are associated with that calendar. Since there is now no file associated with std.ics calendar, I am afraid that all its events will be corrupted if the akonadi database is corrupted. The whole way in which these calendars work is completely obscure, and seems to be written up nowhere. For something as crucial as a calendar program-- people's careers can depend on them-- the current state of korganizer seems distinctly sub-par. I like the program itself-- the way to use it, etc, but I really do not like its propensity to loose stuff due to the completely unknowable way in which the calendars are organized, nor due to an apparent lack of any way of backing up calendars, or of even having a file associated with some calendars. I really have no idea how much I have lost from 15 years of using this program due to these recent problems. I just ran another test. Some of the Events seem to be associated with both the Personal Calendar, AND with the std.ics calendar. Ie, they disappear if I uncheck either of those calendars and some are only in the std.ics calendar (it does not disapear if I uncheck on Personal Calendar) With more than 300 events in the std.ics file I cannot check every one of them to see which are which. ( and for many people, 300 events is a small number.) A calendar should surely always have a file associated with it. Note that in the Setting->Configure Korganizer->Calendars item, there are four items listed. Birthdays and Anniversaries, which says it is Ready (but does not show up on the bottom left calendar list), std.ics which says it is not ready, but does show up on that bottom left list, two dates.ics which say they are not configured yet, and do not show up on the bottom left list, and Personal Calendar which says it is Ready. Choosing them and clicking on "Modify" shows that only the Personal Calendar has a file associated with it. Birthdays and Anniversaries does not even have an option for a file association so I guess they all disappear if the akonida database is corrupted?

Hi w unruh, Thank you for having taken the needed time to report this issue! We regret if this issue didn't get fixed. Closing as OLD, because Mageia 5 has officially reached its End of Life on December 31st, 2017 https://blog.mageia.org/en/2017/11/07/mageia-5-eol-postponed/ It only continued to get important security updates since then, but non-security bugs have no chance of still getting fixed.
