Description of problem: ======================= Installation, keyboard and mouse freezes when step 1 (choose language) is appeared. I cannot debug an issue. I have tried to add these kernel parameters to GRUB2, but did not help: video=vesa:off vga=normal nomodeset i915.modeset=0 Keys Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Ctrl+Alt+F1 upto Ctrl+Alt+F4 or Alt+F4 does nothing. When installation works: ======================== When I do restart from MGA5_x64 and then boot the DVD MGA6dev1. MGA5_liveDVD_x64 works well with UEFI. Found more differences between MGA5-MGA6dev1: ============================================= - MGA5: before GUI installation step 1 is appeared message (maybe this is something other): Ignoring BGRT: invalid status 0 (expected 1) - MGA6dev1 does not show this message - MGA6dev1 the booting is slower than with MGA5, but the speed is the same, when MGA6dev1 DVD is booted after restart from MGA5 system. Summary: [MGA6dev1_x64_UEFI_Optimus]Stage1:Installation freezed when language window appeared => [MGA6dev1_x64_UEFI_Optimus]Stage2:Installation freezes when language window appeared
I vaguely remember that someone once said that if your keyboard is frozen during install, it could still be tried to login to the installer from another system. However, I can't find any information on how to do that.

More info: ========== I have tried to get pictures of the screen as the best as I could. This are the logs before freezing of the real installation of MGA6dev1 from USB. Sorry for the quality. Hope it helps a little bit.

Can you identify the usb devices we faile to read their modalias (/sys/bus/usb/device/3-1/3-1.[13]) ? Could you: 1) start the installer in text mode (just type "linux text" at the CD prompt), 2) plug an USB key 3) once the language screen appear, go to tty2 (Alt+Ctrl+F2) 4) run the "bug" command 5) attach (not paste) the resulting report.bug file you'll find on your USB key Also, does the keyboard works nicely in text mode? (this way we can pinpoint to either a missing hid driver or to an issue with libinput/x11-driver-input-libinput)

BTW what's the "OM" device listed by lspcidrake? Is it your keyboard?

Please, find an attached file "report.bug" below. (In reply to Thierry Vignaud from comment #11) > BTW what's the "OM" device listed by lspcidrake? Is it your keyboard? usbhid: Elan Microelectronics Corp.|OM [Human Interface Device|Boot Interface Subclass|Mouse] (vendor:04f3 device:0235) hid_generic: OM That's a mouse "Genius dx-120". If I disconnect from USB and list it by lpcidrake again, it's gone. Anyway, if I do installation without any USB device, still installation freezes immediately in graphic mode (GUI). Thank you for your assist.

Hi, The same issue here on a Sony Vaio E Series SVE1713G4EW notebook (Bios: InsydeH20 Setup Utility Rev. 3.7.). @ Martin: Thanks for finding out that it works on reboot! Greetings, Ulrich Beckmann
Is it still valid? Kernel & X.org has been updated so maybe it's OK now?
Note: Please test the netinstall ISO to get the latest kernel and X.org changes. (I'll try to give it a try too on Optimus non-UEFI when I have some time)
I retested now Mageia-6-sta1-x86_64-DVD.iso from 06/20/16. It's ok, the issue does not occur any longer. Btw. I have no nVidia graphics, its an AMD/ATI Thames, Radeon HD 7550M/7570M/7650M. Best regards, Ulrich
Presumed fixed by latest kernel then

(In reply to Thierry Vignaud from comment #15) > Is it still valid? > Kernel & X.org has been updated so maybe it's OK now? Sorry for the late reply. I have tested MG6 sta1 (LiveDVD and DVD Plasma) on USB and it works well now! Tested on the same notebook with UEFI. Thanks! Bug report can be closed.
