Description Barry Jackson 2016-03-26 01:20:36 CET
Description of problem:
I set the desktop to folder view and every day (not necessarily at reboot) I find that it has reverted to desktop view.
Re-setting to folder view I find all settings back at default.

I cannot as yet find a way to reliably reproduce this, other than just 'using' the machine.

I do use the same /home for a KDE4 Mageia 5 installation, and occasionally boot into that.
I will try to take note of whether this happens after having booted into Mga5, however I would expect that KDE4 and kf5 user settings would be stored separately.
I do use folder view in Mga5.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set desktop to folder view and set icon alignment to columns
2. Wait and see whether it remains after a day of log outs, reboots, updates etc.
3.

Rather then opening a new bug I think what I can describe here is
basically the same fault as what Barry described.

Boot to the M6 Plasma desktop. That in either the Desktop or folder mode.
Drag a widget or two from the menu to the desktop. Put a xxxx.txt file
in Documents. Using Dolphin left button click on that xxxx.txt file.
The entire screen shifts to the left opening a new view. Whatever
was on the original screen appears to be lost and not recoverable.
Even a reboot won't bring it back. Basically you have to start all
over every time you open a file this way.

I am also going to add to this bug, and not start a new bug,
that during normal operation of Plasma you lose the background
image. And that kinda with almost anything you do. Even if
that image is in your /Pictures directory.

Example:

Copy any jpg image to /Pictures. Make that image your desktop image.
Log out then log in again. Using System Settings you have to
reassign that image to be your desktop background. Even things
like opening a .txt document with Kwrite loses the designated
desktop image.

I don't think what you describe is related to this bug report. I see nothing that I can relate to dolphin or moving files.

This bug is only about the desktop view changing from 'Folder view' back to 'Desktop view' for no apparent reason.

I am now 90% sure that this is not related my common home folder as it has happened many times when Mga5 has not been booted.

OK I'll open a separate bug for what I'm seeing.
