Description Sandro kensan 2016-03-14 20:29:38 CET
Description of problem:

With my scanner Epson Perfection 1250 and Xsane (plustek backend) I have the scans like this:

http://www.kensan.it/tmp/vertical_band.jpg

This is the correct scan:

This problem occurs whit many other distributions like Fedora, Ubuntu, ecc. I suppose it is an error in porting of old 32 bit Plustek backend to 64 bit platform.

These are the messages that other people reported all over the Internet about the same problem:

> Color error with Epson Perfection 1250.

Maybe the problem is for the 64 bit system, like this supposition:

> 314021 sane-find-scanner sees scanner but does not recognize it on 64 bit,
> works fine on 32 bit
> 304296 plustek: Color problem on amd64
> 312505 Epson Perfection 1250 works but, after 1-3 scans, it shows 2 vertical

The workaround it this:

Solution:
Change from 0 to 1 the parameter altCalibration in /etc/sane.d/plustek.conf

but the colours are not very good, they must to be corrected. Anyway the result is not optimal.

Same bug:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Mageia 5
Epson perfection 1250
ID 04b8:010f Seiko Epson Corp. GT-7200U [Perfection 1250/1250 PHOTO]

How reproducible:
Not every time the scans are weird, it is random. In this try I found the first 2 scans are correct and the other five have coloured vertical band.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open xsane
2. press scan button
3. scan ten times the same image
4. after the firsts correct scans, the other have coloured vertical band
