Description of problem: The kdm login screen has all characters with about 1/3 of the character cut off from the upper right corner. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 6dev1 (21/3/2016) How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Graphics card ATI RS690M (Radeon Xpress 1200/1250/1270) on laptop Acer D620 2. After successfull boot, the kdm login screen appears (standard choice has been made for Xfce, but that one is not running yet at this instance). 3.All characters are cut off at the right top corner, making then hardly readable. The whole image flutters a little. Once Xfce is running, the whole screen is clear and stable.

Your video card is quite old and might not have the resources to run sddm, the new display manager for KDE. What driver are you using radeon or the amd proprietary one? Switch to the proprietary one may improve your experience. The other option is to use a display manager with lower resource requirements such as LightDM.

The driver is MCC Hardware Configure Graphic is found under Vendor - ATI - Radeon HD4870 and earlier. LightDM does not have this problem. And with LightDM starting, the issue of bug 17970 is also gone. So OK for now.

That machine is RIP (rest in peace), and I haven't seen this effect on the replacement machine which has nvidia.
Closing as WORKSFORME then as it will be hard to fix without a way to reproduce. If someone can reproduce the issue again, feel free to reopen the bug report.
