Description papoteur 2016-02-27 19:44:54 CET
I have two screens, one of the laptop and the second one connected through HDMI cable. Both are 1920 x 1080 resolution.
Symptoms:
I connect the external monitor, then choose in the kscreen applet to the external screen to extend the first one at left.
When I go away, I use the same applet to disabled the external monitor, then disconnect it.
When I reconnect it, the two screen come black. The applications are still running.

In fact, a file for the second screen in .kde4/share/apps/kscreen/ is written and is corrupted. When I replace it with a good one, all is OK.

I have added some comments on a bug report about KDE, but there is no activity on it.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359602
I will give the two versions of the configuration file.

The corrupted configuration file

This one is written when the first one exists and when I disabled the screen in kscreen.

Comment 3 papoteur 2017-08-28 20:57:58 CEST
I found the solution/workaround by stopping to command the disconnection, and to withdraw directly the plug.
Sometimes, I have to tick on the kscreen applet.
Thus closing.
