Description Frank Griffin 2016-02-03 20:38:58 CET
Fresh network nonfree install...

Prior to the Partitioning dialog, a panel appears saying "configuring CD/DVD". This shouldn't appear if no optical media are being used.

Probably an offshoot of a recent bug report saying that a message about CD should be updated to say DVD instead.

Could you try to get a screenshot, Frank?

Press F2 during install when you see the mentioned panel. If it succeeds, the screenshot should end up in /root/DrakX-screenshots/

I'm not sure it'll succeed because I have some vague memory that I couldn't get a screenshot with F2 of another popup message (in a horizontal bar across the screen) about SCSI.

And please attach /root/drakx/report.bug.xz

Thanks :-)

I tried that, and it gave a popup that said essentially what you wrote, but there is no target physical partition mounted at this point in time, so no persistent /root exists. That directory didn't exist on the current / after hitting F2. I'd need to know where F2 stores screenshots taken at this time for later transfer to /root/DrakX-screenshots when the real / has been mounted.

I'll have to see if this exists at this point in time and can be copied off.

I'm not sure :-( ... probably somewhere in /tmp

There are several log files in /tmp. The one you need is /tmp/ddebug.log

compressing with xz is fine :-)

or maybe add stage1.log, too, if there's anything that looks related in it
Comment 5 Thierry Vignaud 2016-02-06 08:29:37 CET
That's not a bug.
In order to detect CD/DVD, we must load the related modules, which can take some time, thus this message.
What changed recently is that we fixed the message according to what we really do.

Comment 6 Frank Griffin 2016-02-06 15:48:11 CET
It's a minor thing in any case, but if a CD/DVD is involved, it must be already mounted by the time stage2 is running and the related modules would already by loaded, no ?

Not if did not boot from it and the stage2 that you're using isn't on it, either

I was trying to figure out how this would be possible, but I suppose it has something to do with the live ISOs.
