That was with Mageia-6-dev1-i586-DVD.iso DATE.txt: Tue Jan 19 23:55:15 CET 2016 @ tarakbumba I don't have a clue, and don't know to what or to whom to assign. So assigning to you, because you'll be the best motivated person to figure out what goes wrong. Please reassign when needed Thanks :-)

I can not confirm this issue with fresh Mageia-6-dev1-i586-DVD.iso DATE.txt: Tue Feb 2 23:08:31 CET 2016. Note that this installation did not an updated system. Just plain iso install. (Virtualbox network issues? I should consult to pad...) See, i have installed the iso to one of my test VMs and Mate is the default desktop at Lightdm screen. Something changed from Jan 19 to Feb 2 with the isos?
Well, i forgot that i also installed lxde so, further test needed for me. I reinstalled iso with Mate sole DE and confirmed that this bug exists.Working on it. It is something with lightdm.

I'd very much like to get a bit of understanding of how this works ;-)
It seems, this bug is my bad. I've forgotten to modify mate-session-manager file /etc/lightdm/lighdm.conf.d/50-mageia-mate.conf when we switched to upstream /etc/xsessions/ desktop file. Now i started to upload mate 1.13.0; so mate-session-manager-1.13.0.mga6 with fix is included. Marja, you may want to look at http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/LightDM and http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/LightDM/CommonConfiguration/ for further info. Basically, we provide a default session for lightdm and it picks up it as default. @ben; if you still have your Mate setup when mate-session-manager-1.13.0.mga6 hits your mirror; upon updating please test it by; - First switch to another tty, i.e. tty2 # .dmrc file includes info which desktop is last login by user. And it will be read again before user logs in - Become root and remove /home/your_user/.dmrc # state file includes last selection on gtk-greeter and will be used upon next login screen. - Remove /var/lib/lightdm/.cache/lightdm-gtk-greeter/state file - Start dm.service by running > systemctl restart dm.service Now, lightdm started again and mate should be default selection.

Sorry Atilla, moved on with testing to next DE. However, I understand that new Classic Install .isos should be with us in a few days, so if the update is on the build server, it should be included. Btw, no-one else testing remarked on this bug, so it is not an easily noticed one. I will look out for your fix, regards
Ben, is it ok with the new set of (07 March) classical isos?
(In reply to Atilla ÃNTAÅ from comment #7) > Ben, is it ok with the new set of (07 March) classical isos? Hi Atilla, I made a special check for this and yes for the x86_64 is default to Mate DE. forgot to get here , so thanks for the prod :) Cannot check i586 as .iso will not install. will try to remember to check and report when i586 is checkable
Did this get fixed for i586, too?
