I provided mate-applet-streamer package into Mageia 5 backports. This mate-panel-applet is a leaf package and provides streaming audio/icecast media from panel via one click. Packages are tested by Len Lawrence also for both architectures and found no issues. Testing procedure: 1- Install package on MATE Desktop 2- Add "Streamer Applet" by right clicking on panel > Add 3- Once the applet added, right click on it > All stations > Select an stream from automatically downloade Icecast list at Icecast tab. 4- Should immediately start to play audio streams. 5- You may try to add your own streams/radio stations but you need to prepare an xml file with Icecast format first and then All stations > Custom tab > Open SOURCE RPMS in core/bacports_testing: mate-applet-streamer-0.3.3-1.mga5.src.rpm RPMS in core/bacports_testing: mate-applet-streamer-0.3.3-1.mga5.i586.rpm mate-applet-streamer-0.3.3-1.mga5.x86_64.rpm Reproducible: Steps to Reproduce:
mga5 x86_64 Mate mga5 i586 in vbox Mate I followed the procedure outlined in comment 0 above and tried several stations in the Icecast list. They came in loud and clear. I had previously tried this out after installing from Backports Testing. After installation and logging out and in, an applet streamer icon appears in the list of choices available in the add to panel > application menu. I did think about step 5 - adding a station under the custom tab and looked at the cut-down Icecast xml file in /usr/share/icecast/doc and took a step back. However, that loaded play4lounge and played it OK under the custom tab, so following that format should work. I will hold back on validating this until there is an advisory available.

Thank you testing Len, since there is no mention on Advisory at https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Backports_policy i did not write one. Should i?
Never mind. Here is my advisory: A mate panel applet, "mate-applet-streamer" which enhances mate panel by allowing users to play icecast format audio streams on the fly, is uploaded to Mageia 5 core/backports_testing repository. This package doesn't change behaviour of mate-panel and doesn't remove any other packages from the system. Sorry for not responding Attila. Busy day. Yeah, I think you were in the best position to write this. It looks good to me but I shall wait to give anybody else a chance to object. Somebody from admin will upload it. Thanks.
