Created attachment 7088 [details] xorg.conf from installed system Description of problem: I have laptop with AMD A8-5557M APU (Radeon HD 8550G) and discrete videocard Radeon HD 8750M. I installed Mageia 5 on it and got xorg.conf with different drivers for video cards, which does not work. There should be either "ati" or "fglrx" for both videocards. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Mageia 5

How have you installed? Classical DVD? Live DVD? Other?
LiveDVD with KDE.

I think that is due to missing/proper support for hybrid graphics. I've seen this before, also for systems with intel/nvidia optimus graphics where there were two sections in xorg.conf, one for the nvidia chip, and one for the intel, which will not work in default setup. Maybe related: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15734

I should add, that when I configure video using drakx11 and select "Configure all heads separately", if I use proprietary driver, it set fglrx only for integrated video, the discrete video has "ati" in xorg.conf.
I installed MGA6 sta2 and xorg.conf has "ati" for both devices. X starts fine now. This is not optimal, but that's another issue, see bug 13986.

Thanks for the feedback. Closing this report as OLD, then, because Mageia 5 is no longer officially supported.
