Description of problem: My PC has USB3 ports, but they are all on the backside of the machine. So I bought a Vivanco USB3 hub (4 ports available, own power supply). The strange thing is now that, when I insert an USB stick, the device is not immediately recognized - it takes some minutes before the device notifier comes up. I can speed that up by opening MCC and choose "Browse hardware", then the device notifier comes up immediately and I can handle all I want in dolphin. There is no problem when I use a USB3 port directly at the backside of the PC. I mentioned this on alt.os.linux.mageia 7 months ago and got anwer and answerd back, but nothing came out of this. I quote: Run "dmesg -w", then plugin the usb stick, and wait for the device notifier to show the stick. Copy/paste the new lines to a reply in this thread. Use ctrl+c to end the dmesg -w output. Regards, Dave Hodgins and further: As usual no reaction from Device notifier. After using MCC - Browse hardware I get: [ 2381.717844] usb 7-2.1: new SuperSpeed USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd [ 2381.729418] usb 7-2.1: Parent hub missing LPM exit latency info. ok, so that sounds like a crappy or broken usb hub... Can you do this: with hub unplugged, reboot the system, plug the usb stick, wait for the notification, and as root grab journalctl -b log and output of lsusb then unplug the stick, reboot the system, plug the usb hub, grab lsusb output, then plug the usb stick in the hub, wait for the notification, and as root grab journalctl -b log and output of lsusb

and of course attach those logs to this bug :)

Confirm that plugging USB3 stick into port of PC gives quickly notification.
Note: the journal file first posted is wrong, I'll do that again later. With the USB hub plugged in at reboot, and plugging in the mem stick, there was still no notification after some 15 minutes. So I did the commands (result files XXXXXXpre), then ran the "Browse hardware" in MCC, which immediately provoked the notification and the reran the commands (files XXXXXpost) Hope this helps. Note since my first log mentioned in the Description, I installed Mageia 5 on the PC, so different behavior is not exceptional I guess.

So what's the verdict? @ Herman Of course, if the issue got solved in the meanwhile, then please close this report :-)
