Description Jüri Ivask 2015-08-19 14:38:27 CEST
Maybe it is a good idea to add developed from the beginning kf5 plasma5 screenshot application kscreengenie.

According to this discussion:
https://blogs.kde.org/2015/08/12/ksnapshot-next
it is going to replace KSnapshot...

Project location: https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kscreengenie.git

yes it is on my TODO :)
i try to do it today.
Comment 2 Rémi Verschelde 2015-08-19 14:48:36 CEST
Note that as upstream describes it in the blog post linked above, kscreengenie will be renamed to ksnapshot, thus replacing and obsoleting the current ksnapshot. So if we package kscreengenie separately for the time being, we should remember to make the next ksnapshot (Applications 15.12) obsolete the kscreengenie package.
Comment 3 Jüri Ivask 2015-09-17 15:13:08 CEST
It seems that kscreengenie got a new name - kapture :)

As always, the KDE community excells at making confusing choices and changing their minds every couple of months :D
But in this case I think it's more reasonable of them to use a new name for new software than to give a new tool the same name as a soon to be deprecated tool :)

It'd better be an excellent tool because Ksnapshot was very good!
Comment 6 Jüri Ivask 2015-10-07 10:24:58 CEST
One more name change - spectacle.
Nicolas - any news about Mageia package? :)

Lol. That's one more 404 on KDE repos, it's starting to get messy. Get we don't need to hurry to package it if it gets renamed every two weeks :)
Comment 8 Jüri Ivask 2015-10-07 10:38:50 CEST
Furthermore - there already exists linux software named Spectacle:
https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Spectacle
Comment 9 Jüri Ivask 2015-11-23 15:52:59 CET
Spectacle is now included in KDE Applications 15.12 Beta:
