Description Pana Sum 2015-07-31 04:30:50 CEST
Description of problem:
In Mageia 5, and probably previous releases (I do not remember right now), the Spanish translation of grub 1 shows the word "Caldero" next to the options. "Caldero" means cauldron, but Mageia 5 is not cauldron. In the English version this word does not appear.

Grub 1 in Mageia 5 in Spanish

This is a screenshot of grub 1 in Mageia 5 in Spanish, taken from the liveDVD menu using Virtualbox. The word "Cauldron" can be appreciated.

This also happens in a installed system (not only in the liveDVD menu)

Yes, it is still valid.

Actually, I cannot see how to fix this. :(

It was an error in v4.5.6.6 to v4.5.6.8

http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/design/bootloader-theme/tree/po/es.po?id=4.5.6.8

It was fixed in v4.5.6.9 but since then we switched to Mageia 6 notation and we cannot change back to Mageia 5.

http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/design/bootloader-theme/tree/po/es.po

What can we do in such situation?

branch the version use in mga5 (we usually name such branch distro/mga5), fix the bug, bump the version and voila

The changes are pushed into the new 'distro/mga5' branch (based on 4.5.6.8 tag). Many thanks for your advice.

Now it should be versioned and released somehow.

BTW, even for Cauldron, "Cauldron" is a name, right?
Names should IMO *never* be translated.

Hi Pana Sum,

Thank you for having taken the needed time to report this issue!

We regret if this issue didn't get fixed in Mageia 5.

Mageia 5 has officially reached its End of Life on December 31st, 2017 https://blog.mageia.org/en/2017/11/07/mageia-5-eol-postponed/
It only continued to get important security updates since then, but non-security bugs have no chance of still getting fixed.

I understand this bug doesn't exist in Mageia 6 or later, so closing this report as OLD.

Please reopen this report and change its "Version:" at the top left to "6", if my understanding is wrong and the same bug still exists in Mageia 6.

Cheers,
Marja
